Promoting the health and well being of the community is a core aspect of our mission. Therefore, we provide the following programs.
We provide in-person counseling and assistance to clients in need of help with applying for healthcare. We are committed to changing the culture of healthcare within our community by increasing access to healthcare in a culturally and linguistically competent manner.
HCC Food Pantry
As a means of combating food insecurity within our community we currently provide a food pantry. We provide free healthy and nutritious food to 150-200 individuals on a weekly basis. This includes fresh fruits, vegetables, canned foods, and bread.
Child Nutrition Program
In partnership with Heaven’s Window we provide160 healthy and nutritious snacks to low-income kids on a weekly basis. We also partner with UCSD Center for Community Health to conduct health workshops for our students. The goal of this program is to improve the nutritional status of our children by providing them with nutrition/health education and nutritious food.
Health Education Workshops & Fairs
We offer several educational workshops as a means of educating community members on: chronic diseases, nutrition and obesity prevention, physical activity and mental illness.
